What’s Happening at Wilson Toellner CPA?
Earlier this month, our Central MO CPA firm presented to a local entrepreneurs’ club called One Million Cups about our major internal initiatives, as well as the challenges and opportunities present in our rapidly changing industry. Here is a link to our presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2oXB-JQzwc&t=19s.
As explained in our presentation, it is an exciting time with rapid change in our Mid-Missouri CPA firm and in the world of accounting, tax, and business consulting. Because these changes are shaping our client experience and service offerings every day, Wilson Toellner CPA would like to share the major themes of our presentation.
Change comes from the outside, transformation comes from within. As the business-technology climate changes around us, we realize that our greatest opportunity to make a difference for our clients lies in helping them shape and transform their futures rather than watching them react to change and manage crises.
Technology is driving rapid change. Cloud-based accounting platforms, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data-analytics present us with opportunities to build accounting systems that are customized to the needs of each individual client, presenting them with the information they need in real-time and helping them make better business decisions. Automation allows us to spend less of our time doing data entry and more time strategizing and analyzing client data, to move the needle toward better results such as greater profitability and less tax. Technology also allows us to be fully mobile, so you can sign your tax return from your mobile device rather than being required to come to our office.
Less looking backward, more looking ahead. The technology and automation mentioned previously allow us to prepare and present historical financial information with greater speed. This allows us to spend more time forecasting and projecting ahead, to eliminate surprises and accomplish goals.
Value-driven conversations. We realize that the value of our services, as perceived by our clients, should be a large factor in how we price our work. Where conventional CPA firm pricing has been done in arrears and based on hourly rates, we now emphasize conversations with our clients before completing a project, to discuss the scope of the project and its value. This eliminates surprises in billing and further aligns us with our clients.
We want to hear about what is important to our clients. We are uniquely qualified to devise solutions for a vast number of client needs far beyond traditional CPA services like accounting, payroll, and tax. The demands for a business owner’s time are great, and when our clients identify tasks and responsibilities that are costing them time, we want them to call us. We can help them regain control of their time and spend more of it doing what they love.
Even in the midst of change, some things stay the same. Our firm was founded in 1988 with the idea that we could generate great experiences and outcomes for clients, while also providing fulfilling and rewarding lives for our staff. We were recently named, by a prominent accounting magazine, as one of the top 100 firms in the country to work for. This is our fourth consecutive year receiving this distinction, and it’s one of our proudest accomplishments. Because we provide a great place to work, we attract talented team members who love what they do. This translates to a positive client experience, because our clients are served by skilled people who are passionate at the same time.
We are in an exciting time in our firm and in our industry as we transform to a future-ready CPA firm. We look forward to bringing valuable and proactive service to our clients, while remaining true to the core values that have made us who we are since 1988.
